Be a Good Neighbor

Our Good Neighbor Volunteer Program is an advocacy program to assist elderly in our communities that need assistance in preparing for natural disasters and other emergencies.

Implemented during hurricane season, the program matches seniors with a Good Neighbor Volunteer in their zip code area. Good Neighbor Volunteers serve as advocates for their elderly neighbors by helping to ensure the safety of seniors prior to and after storms. Anyone 18 years of age or older can volunteer.

What Will Volunteers Do? Volunteers are assigned a senior in their area and are asked to serve as an advocate for that person for the duration of hurricane season. Good Neighbor Volunteers ensure their Neighbor is aware of watches, warnings, and evacuations and assist them with the information they need to help them prepare for an impending storm. After the storm, Good Neighbor Volunteers contact their Neighbor to help them address needs resulting from the storm. If you are interested in becoming a Good Neighbor Volunteer call our volunteer department at 266-2518.
