New Location for Seniors to Enjoy Lunch and Activities Opens July 19

Gull Point Community Center will become one of the Council's 17 congregate meal sites throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties where individuals 60 and older can enjoy a hot, nutritious, balanced noon meal and socialize with others their age. Spouses under 60 and disabled individuals who reside with a participant may attended if accompanied by the participant.

There is no income assessment or limitation, but registration is required. Future participants can register in person at the center on Monday, July 19 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Those not able to register in person on July 19 may call 432-1475 to make a reservation and register on their first day of participation. Meals will be served Monday through Friday at 11:15 a.m. beginning on Tuesday, July 20. A $2.00 or more donation per meal is recommended. These funds go back into the congregate meal program to support the provision of meals and activities at the sites. Council on Aging of West Florida will provide regularly scheduled recreation and activities at the center Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. There is no cost to participate in the activities.

The congregate meal program is designed to promote better health among elders through improved nutrition and reduction of the isolation experienced by many elders. The congregate meal site at Gull Point Community Center is made possible by a Council on Aging of West Florida in partnership with the City of Pensacola, the Northwest Florida Area Agency on Aging/Aging Resource Center, and the Florida Department of Elder Affairs. For a complete list of sites, visit the congregate meal page on this Web site under community services or call us at 850-432-1475.
