Meals, Nutrition and Socialization

Eating right can be a challenge for anyone, but sometimes older adults need extra help with proper nutrition, whether at home or in a social environment. We offer two options for in-home meal assistances, Meals on Wheels and private-pay home delivered meals. In addition, we also operate numerous senior dining sites throughout Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties where individuals 60 and older (or accompanying a spouse 60 or older) can gather for meals, socialization and recreation.

The Retreat

The Retreat offers a stimulating day experience for older adults with physical and cognitive impairments. Participants enjoy a full day of activities, social interaction and recreation in a safe, protective at-home like atmosphere. Family caregivers gain peace of mind knowing their loved ones are in a safe place while they go off to work or get much needed respite.

Caregiver Support

Many family caregivers take on the challenges of caregiving alone. However, caring for a loved one is not easy. Not only can it be overwhelming, too much stress can be harmful to both of you. To help ease the burden of caregiving, we offer caregiver support groups, which provide caregivers the opportunity to share experiences with peers in similar circumstances, and our adult day care center, which provides options for both the caregiver and the participant.

Social Services

Our social services department serves as a link between our clients and the community resources that make independent living possible. Through careful assessment of the needs and environment of our clients, we ensure that they are getting the best available services.

Senior Volunteer Programs

Those who volunteer with Council on Aging have one thing in common, a desire to assist the lives of the elderly and children alike in some way. Our volunteers are dedicated individuals of all ages and from all walks of life willing to help us further our mission. Volunteers work along with staff and supplement efforts in all areas of service including administrative tasks, helping clients and assisting with special events.
